KRYSTAL is one of a kind. There is nothing else like her on the market.

Where KRYSTAL's risk and history come from

KRYSTAL doesn't buy broker ratings or market data, and it doesn't pool your loads with other members'. Every risk figure comes from what you enter on the load or from your own recorded history. Here's which is which, how fresh it is, and what you see when there isn't enough evidence.

What you enter on each load

  • Broker rating (1 to 5, starts at 4.0). Your own judgment of this broker, from experience, reviews or credit services you use. Below 3.5 counts against the load.
  • Outbound market score (0 to 100, starts at 50). How good the delivery area is for finding your next load. Under 40 counts against the load. The report's Reload Opportunity and Market Risk come from this number.
  • Expected waiting hours, weight, deadhead and the rest of the load details.

Because these come from you, they're as current as your own knowledge on the day you analyze.

Your own rules

  • States you avoid: a load that picks up or delivers in one counts heavily against it.
  • Weak reload markets: delivering into one counts against a load and raises its market risk.
  • Thresholds: deadhead over 20% of miles, more than 5 hours of waiting, and weight over 42,000 lbs are flagged for everyone.

You set both state lists in your operating profile, under Operating Constraints. Blank means none. Every point each rule costs is listed on how KRYSTAL calculates.

Your own history

These are built only from your company's loads: every member's analyses and outcomes for the owner and dispatchers, and an operator's own. They're recalculated every time you open them, so they always include your latest records.

Your history with this broker

Shown on the report's Risk tab when you name the broker. Built from your completed loads with that broker:

  • Pay speed: the average days to pay you recorded.
  • Rate integrity: how closely the revenue you collected matched the rate you booked on the Value Meter, or the analyzed offer if you didn't record a booking. A broker who accepted your counter and paid it in full scores full marks.
  • Issues: how often you logged a pickup or delivery problem.

Your lane score

Shown on the Risk tab for the exact pickup city to delivery city. Built from your earlier analyses on that lane: how its net per hour compares with your floor, how often it came out BOOK, and how much deadhead it carried, plus your average actual profit there once outcomes are recorded.

Reload odds

Shown on your Member Profile, by delivery state. Built from your answers to "Found a reload out of this delivery area?" when you record an outcome, with the average hours it took.

When there isn't enough evidence

Each of the three needs at least 3 records before it shows a score: 3 completed loads with the broker, 3 analyses on the lane, or 3 recorded reload answers for the state. Until then you see "Insufficient data" and how many more are needed. KRYSTAL doesn't guess or fill the gap with other members' data, so one good or bad load can't make a broker or lane look like a trend.

Not connected

  • Weather: the Risk tab says "Unknown - not connected yet".
  • Truck routing: miles are the ones you enter, and the report labels them "Entered by driver".
  • Load boards and market rates: KRYSTAL doesn't pull rates from load boards. Its minimum rate and counter come from your costs and floors only.

History that's yours alone

The more completed loads you record, the more KRYSTAL can tell you about your brokers and lanes. How to record them.
