Questions about KRYSTAL
What KRYSTAL does and doesn't do, and how billing and your account work. For prices, see pricing; for the free trial, see demo and trial.
The product
Does KRYSTAL find loads?
No. KRYSTAL analyzes offers you already have, from a broker, a load board or your dispatcher, and tells you whether they're worth taking. A load board inside KRYSTAL is being built, but it isn't open to members yet.
Does it book freight or talk to brokers for me?
No. You make the call and book the load with the broker as you do now. KRYSTAL gives you the numbers and a counter target to take into the call. It isn't a broker, a dispatch service or a load board.
Can I paste a broker's text or email?
Yes. Paste it into Fast Offer Mode on the Analyze page and press Parse Offer. KRYSTAL reads the route, rate, loaded miles, deadhead, weight, pickup time, trailer and commodity when they're written plainly. It shows what it found and what it couldn't read, and you check the form before analyzing. It's made for quick offer text, not for reading a full rate confirmation document.
Can I upload a rate confirmation?
No. The only upload is a document that backs up a cost in your operating profile, such as an insurance declarations page, a loan statement or an IFTA report, as a PDF, PNG or JPEG. The KRYSTAL team checks the figure on it and marks that cost verified.
Which equipment does it handle?
Power only, dry van, reefer, flatbed, step deck, double drop, RGN or lowboy, tanker, pneumatic, hopper bottom, end dump, container or intermodal, car hauler, livestock, hotshot, and other. Your costs drive the math, so it works for any equipment you can describe. Your profile has places for reefer fuel and maintenance, trailer costs and washouts.
Can my dispatcher or drivers use it?
Yes. The company owner can invite a dispatcher, who analyzes loads for any of the company's trucks and records their outcomes, and an operator, who analyzes loads for the one truck assigned to them. Everyone works from the owner's operating profile, so costs are entered once. Only the owner sees Billing and Team and changes trucks or truck costs. Extra logins don't change the price.
What if I don't have all the information?
Pickup and delivery city and state, the rate and loaded miles are required. A round trip with unknown return miles, or a multistop load with an unknown stop count or stop pay, gets PASS until you fill them in. Blank costs in your profile either use KRYSTAL's starting values or aren't charged. Your first load analysis explains each case.
Does it check hours of service, routes or weather?
No. Trip time is a planning estimate used to cost the load, not an hours-of-service check. Miles are the ones you enter. Weather isn't connected. You remain responsible for legal, safe operation and the final decision.
Where do broker and lane scores come from?
From the load details you enter and your own recorded history, never from other members' loads. Risk and data sources has the details.
Do I need to install anything?
No. KRYSTAL runs in your web browser at app.betterpayingfreight.com.
Billing
How am I billed?
One flat price a month for the whole company, set by your number of active trucks: $70 for 1-3 trucks, up to the largest fleets. See every tier. You pay by card through Stripe's secure checkout, and KRYSTAL never sees or stores your card number. A subscription gives everyone on the account unlimited analyses.
When does it renew?
Automatically every month, on the date you first subscribed, until you cancel. The Billing page shows when the current period ends.
How do I cancel?
The company owner opens Billing and presses Manage Billing, which opens Stripe's billing portal. A cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've paid for, and KRYSTAL keeps working until then. Your saved analyses and records stay in your account.
What if I add or retire trucks?
When your active truck count moves into a different tier, the subscription moves to that tier's price at your next renewal. Nothing is charged or credited for the current month. KRYSTAL tells you the new price and the date it starts.
What if a payment fails?
KRYSTAL keeps working for 7 days while Stripe retries the card, and the Billing page shows the date. Update your card under Manage Billing. If the payment still hasn't gone through after 7 days, new analyses pause until it does; nothing in your account is deleted.
Who can see billing?
Only the company owner. Dispatchers and operators don't see the Billing page.
