Privacy and your data
What KRYSTAL keeps about you, your offers, your costs and your account, who can see it, which outside services handle it, and how to have it removed.
Visiting this website
This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Like any web server, it records each request (address, page and time) in its logs; one-time links in those requests are blanked out before they're written. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your browser's address when a page loads.
Requesting a demo
The demo form asks for your name, email, state, company, fleet size, and optionally a phone number and a message. It's used to review your request, invite you and get in touch about it. The KRYSTAL team is emailed a copy when you submit it.
What KRYSTAL keeps when you're a member
- Account: your name, email, state, company and role. Your password is never stored, only a salted one-way hash of it.
- Your answers during setup: how you run and judge loads, and the three optional consents.
- Operating costs: your operating profile and trucks: fuel, fixed costs, reserves, lease terms, carrier percentage, fees, deductions and driver pay.
- Offers and loads: every load you analyze, with its rate, miles, lane, broker name and MC number and the result. When you paste an offer, the original text is kept in that load's notes. Each analysis also keeps a copy of the costs it was worked out with.
- Results: what you record afterwards on the Value Meter and Record Outcome: booked rates, invoiced and paid dates and amounts, actual costs, profit and notes.
- Documents: files you upload to verify a cost, such as an insurance page or loan statement. They're stored under random names on KRYSTAL's server and opened only by the KRYSTAL team to check the one figure you asked to verify.
- Messages: feedback and support requests you send.
- Billing: your subscription's status, tier and Stripe reference numbers. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe; KRYSTAL never sees or stores a card number.
Who can see it
- You.
- Your company: the owner and dispatchers see the company's loads; an operator sees their own. Only the owner sees billing.
- The KRYSTAL team: staff can see member accounts, analyses and outcomes in order to run the service, answer support requests, review verification documents and check that calculations are accurate.
- Not other members. Your loads, brokers, lanes and results are never pooled into another member's scores or reports.
KRYSTAL doesn't sell your data or share it for advertising. If you tick the optional box during setup, KRYSTAL may use your answers and load results with your identity removed to improve its models.
Outside services
These companies handle data on KRYSTAL's behalf, only for the job listed:
- Railway: hosts the website, the application and its database.
- Stripe: takes subscription payments and runs the billing portal.
- Resend and Namecheap Private Email: deliver KRYSTAL's emails.
- Google Fonts: serves the website's fonts.
Members get invitation, password, billing and weekly summary emails. Every email that isn't strictly about your account has an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing is honored. When KRYSTAL emails trucking companies that haven't signed up, it uses contact details they registered publicly with the FMCSA, and those emails carry the same unsubscribe link. KRYSTAL doesn't send text messages today.
Keeping it safe
- Every page and the application are served over HTTPS.
- Passwords are stored only as salted hashes.
- Each member's records are tied to their account, and the application checks who is signed in before showing or changing any of them.
- One-time invitation and unsubscribe links are blanked out of server logs.
Keeping and removing your data
Your data is kept while you have an account, including after a subscription ends, so it's there if you come back. To get a copy of your data, or to have your account and data deleted, email robert@mail.betterpayingfreight.com from the address on your account. Stripe keeps its own payment records as the law requires.
